The Campaign for Wool celebrates the first edition of Wool Week Antwerp. The main highlight of this Wool Week is an exhibition at WM Gallery, Wolstraat 45 in Antwerp (23 until 30 October). The "17x wool" exhibition shows special made wool objects by Belgian creatives Christian Wijnants (winner of the International Woolmark Prize 2013), Tim Van Steenbergen, Walter Van Beirendonck, Essentiel, Kim Stumpf, Maison Anna Heylen, Jan-Jan Van Essche, Damien Ravn, Monsieur Tricot by Ilia Sigi Eckardt, Ann Demeulemeester, Jantine van Peski, Tom Van der Borght and Stephan Schneider. Stylist Sonja Mertens arranged a special design installation. Two third- year bachelor students from the fashion department of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Woojic Jo and Laure Severac, were selected to enter a silhouette because of their interesting use of wool. The exhibition is curated by fashion journalist Veerle Windels and was shown for the first time during the opening event of Wool Week Antwerp at Paleis op de Meir on October 21st. For this occation there were a lot of sheep in front of the building, together with a shepherd completely dressed in an outfit by Jan-Jan Van Essche.
During the week there is also a “Tour de Wool”, that brings you to the designer shops and multi brand stores where special attention will be given to wool: Sanne De Wolf @ Graanmarkt 13, Morrison, Dorothee Schumacher, Stephan Schneider, Cover & Couch, Kim Stumpf Flagship Store, Aymara @ Prinses Op De Erwt, Sedona, Essentiel, Bugaboo @ Kids on the docks, Café Costume, Atelier Solarshop, Xandres & Xandres xline, Veritas, XSO, Maison Anna Heylen, Tommy Hilfiger, Lanado and Slaappunt.
